The Kremlin's involvement in Syria has always been about the support of it's murderous proxy Assad and its interests as regards ISIS have been nothin but highly shady. Anyway, its adventure there is now rapidly turning into a farce by any remotely civilised standards and no amount of propaganda is going to change this.

I always think it better to see the perspective from the other blokes bench
If I were Russian I may just think that history suggests that they are surounded by adversaries that will invade or seek to put them down - particularly from the West
There has been numerous recent examples of their being 'played up' geographically and economically
I do confess that I dont know his full history beyond the KGB and an apparent despising of his predecessors bending to the West

No, not really, the russians were informed all the time that we were no threat to them, but we wanted to ensure that in the event of a communist revival, that we could ensure order at least in the border states, Putin has used this cynically to revive the cold war because it justifies his strong man stance and his existence.
If you knew how he came to power, who funded him and where his money is, you would despise this little crooknik.
The man and the powers behind him are cunts. Never a conspiracy thread about this amazingly.

With the testing aspect I agree but consider this, have we not theirs? Fearful liberties have been taken.
After all following the fall of the Iron Curtain it was agreed that none of the 'free' states' would join either NATO nor the EU, The Ukrainian debacle can be routed to its being cozied to join the EU, whilst the Crimea, always deeply embroiled in the Russian physce, was at risk from hosting a NATO base within their Black Sea lake.
Oh and the great Cuban missile crisis - falsely reported - those missiles only went there because the US put theirs in Turkey, the US weapons were removed alongside the Russian but not reported as such at the time nor widely since.
All that and I am by nature right wing and a political hawk.

Crassus, I'm sorry, but that does not fit the facts at all.
Russia has been persistently testing Nato's borders - there are umpteen examples of this where they have recklessly risked upsetting the peace and its amazing this hasn't happened before.

How about this, the Turks with a distinct and personal agenda were not too happy with a growing concorde between the West and Russia after Paris, saw their local influence deminish for a moment and thought fuck it, we are in NATO, lets up the anti?
